The facility is still closed. Local law enforcement does not have any new information and the FBI is keeping a tight lid on the event

Wow, that is one dangerous little dragon(don)

It's being reopened now. The statement from AURA [Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy] has some vague details:

Quote:
AURA has been cooperating with an on-going law enforcement investigation of criminal activity that occurred at Sacramento Peak. During this time, we became concerned that a suspect in the investigation potentially posed a threat to the safety of local staff and residents. For this reason, AURA temporarily vacated the facility and ceased science activities at this location.
Of course, you can still have fun with this article from two days ago: "New Mexico solar observatory denies aliens involved in ‘security’ closure":

Quote:
A New Mexico solar observatory this week denied aliens were involved in a security-related closure that began last week and is still in place.

“I can tell you it definitely wasn’t aliens,” a spokeswoman for the National Solar Observatory, part of the Sunspot Solar Observatory consortium, told The Washington Post.
(I mean, they would say that, right?)

Of course. Mnoren aren't aliens. ("The Mnoren were human - and a little bit more.") The authorities are being entirely truthful when they say "I can tell you it definitely wasn’t aliens".

It seems scientifically irresponsible of them to definitively rule out aliens. Or maybe aliens weren't involved with that suspect, but...
