Default Re: Rules Question

Bashing someone with a shield to hurt them is a different thing from trying to knock them over with a shield rush. (Both are well-represented in GURPS, which has enough detailed mechanics to make the difference interesting - mainly parrying attacks is a major part of GURPS, and a sword can't very well parry a shield. But in TFT there is no routine parrying, so ...) a shield bash in TFT, it seems to me, might be considered like a punch at +1 or +2 damage for the shield rather than bare hands, but mechanically that's liable to not end up being very tempting unless you don't have another ready weapon.

(Hmm, well actually, borrowing from GURPS, I might at least allow a shield bash to negate the defensive bonuses of the Fencer and Weapon Expert/Master and Unarmed Combat talents - 6 dice to hit you at -2DX? Not with my shield! Bash!)

I wonder how many of the characters people have had using Two Weapons talent to improve their shield ability, ever use that ability for actually using two weapons? I wouldn't expect very many would. Seems to me that if I wanted to have shields be able to be trained up that much, I would much rather have a Shield Mastery talent that does that, and not have all shield masters also be two-weapon masters that mostly rarely never fight with two weapons but could.
