Re: Lost in Dreams (Jane Doe)
Ostav: "Its not pain. Its Nausea and vertigo and tension and tingles and ugg... Ok, that part hurt."
He spasms a few times, and then closes his eyes and opens them. Ostav: "I think its over."

"Right now is the ANI just for passive information-gathering, or can it actively help treat symptoms in some way? Or would you need some other device for that?"

Ostav: "We're working on symptom treatment. Or at least I was."
Dr. Kuse: "You still are!" Ostav: "Ok, I'm working in an odd capacity. At any rate, early attempts to treat the symptoms with the ANI aren't looking very successful. Which is surprising, because that seems to indicate the symptoms come from the brain rather than the outer neural system"

"Maybe it's coming from a part of the brain the ANI can't access? I hope there are some safeguards in what this thing can do..."

Re: Lost in Dreams (Jane Doe)
Ostav: "The ANI is situated in the brain, but it mostly interacts with external functions. Your mind is only effected by the inputs. An ANI can monitor and modify sensory inputs and motor outputs, but not actually change what you think."
"and yes, that's the theory: the effect is coming from the parts of the brain we don't let the ANI mess with." The door opens, and another man comes into the already crowded room. He is by far the largest in the room, and both tall and broad. He is well muscled, but his hair is completely white, and his face shows age. It looks quite strange. "My name is Karl Welker. I understand you're something of a stow away, and that you have amnesia. Its my job to secure the supplies on this ship. I didn't think I'd have to deal with a stow away at this part of the mission". Dr. Kuse: "The amnesia is real. We can see the brain damage."

"I'm not sure how many of your supplies I consumed prior to your finding me. Would it be possible to work off their value Mister Welker?"

"Work Off... No it would not. Working on this vessel would be an act of theft in and of itself."

Re: Lost in Dreams (Jane Doe)
Mr. Welker: "You will be unable to repair your breach until the supply ship comes in August."
Dr. Kuse: "So what happens to her now?" Mr. Welker: "She ..." He suddenly turns pasty white, doubles over, and vomits on the floor. The Doctors rush to him and pull Ostav out of the chair, sticking Mr. Welker in it. The man has puke all over him, and seems to be drooling as well. And she notices that he's wet himself.
