Two Dungeon Fantasy suggestions
Basically two suggestion for dungeon fastasy books I can't write at this time. One because it's not up my alley (too technical for me) and the other because I don't own a computor at this time.
The first would be something like The Book of Gennies! Only it would cover all sorts of creatures and sertitors that would be allies with "SUMMONABLE. Spirits in rings, magic mirror, ect. All types either called up by a talisman or a Summonner. Basically a catalog of worked examples with notes, a specialised Book of Monsters geared to "Genni"/servitor role. The second would be a Courts & Castles book analogous to the Taverns book. Noble and royal courts are great places for adventures to either happen or start and finish. Like the Taverns the Courts are a useful and dramatic nexus for adventure tales. And the favors of the powerful can be rich treasures in themselves. Reactions?

Not one to point fingers on a simple misspelling, but that word really sounds similar to the word for a female donkey. (Or the part you sit on.)
You meant "Genie" or "Jinni" or "Djinn". There are Summonable creatures in a lot of the various DF books. |

I think that book has already been printed. It's called GURPS Dungeon Fantasy 9: Summoners.
Also, when I saw "Gennies" I though about a book that showed how to get electricity running (perhaps during a storm, or zombie apocolypse) in a DF campaign!

Actually it's a start, not a catalog. A good list of "Jinni" types, most of which would be low power but useful, would make Summoners more useful and would set up some interesting campaign hooks. Many "Jinni" (I put it in quotes because servitor spirits aren't limmited to the Arabian Nights) are really just replacements or alterations of social advantages that lack a useful context in a Dungeon Fantasy setting. Example: A small book that allows you to call upon the services of a small group of Jinni Scholars; basically it's Contacts with a few extra bells and whistles. In an AD&D game I played in the late 1970's, my PC owned a magic ring that summonded a bird. The bird could be of any natural bird species too small to carry a human or demihuman, and could speak in a human voice. My PC used the bird as a scout, messenger, and occaisional thief/procument officer. A small book of summonable beings would be very handy.

Re: Two Dungeon Fantasy suggestions
So you're suggesting DF 9.5: Summonables? *grin* (I don't think I fully grok DF enough to do anything about it, alas.)

Of course it has to do with the Latin and English word Genius, but OTOH that has to do, also with one of the various meanings of the Greek Daimon, specially the Socratic one, even if this latter is an equivalent for the Hindu Ātman (the Noûs, Intellect, true Self, Spirit and Immanent Divinity in the Awakened man) under a different -and a bit particular- presentation. This latter would be closer to the Agathodaimon, but it isn't an individualized "spirit" nor a sort of "invisible yet individual being", able to be summoned, etc . . . , but the minuscule and usually dormant reflection in the human individuality of the Universal Principle. The Arabic Jinns, on the other hand, if they are evil (shayātīn) are near to the meaning of Cacodaimons.

I believe that that's too specific, so it'd be up to the GM. It could be interesting for a Pyramid magazine article, though, like that RPK article on Dungeon Fantasy's Spellbooks, that unfortunately I'm unable to get! And many summoned "spirits" in the (D)Fantasy genre fall under the Jinn category anyway.

It could include some of the specific stuff of Courts you're talking about. I would be interested in such sourcebook if it's properly done.
