Default Wait! The Game can detect demons?

I was just reading through the rules. A Gamester can detect his related Band on a Perception roll? A (exceedingly rare) Gamester with all the Band attunements can detect ALL demons?

Am I alone in missing this?

Whoa! Even worse, Sense of Betrayal essentially is a Celestial Detection device, as long as they have even a hint of Dissonance. (What? You don't?)

I don't see any reason to assume that it's the Band attunement that's relevant. The text says that they can detect other demons of their Band, not with their attunement.

Yes, Servitors of the Game can detect demons (of their own Band, or of any Band they have the attunement for). Some can detect dissonance in any celestial.

But does Asmodeus seem like the kind of Prince who would take a liking to any Servitor enough to give them EVERY Band attunement?

Page 3 of Superiors: Asmodeus: "A Servitor with more than one Band Attunement rolls only once and knows which Band he has detected." So it is part of the attunement, and it can be acquired for multiple Bands.

Does this seem incredibly powerful to anyone else?

This is one of the reasons I typically don't allow Gamesters in my campaigns. For a crafty player, it can throw a wrench in the game almost as much as a Kyrio of Destiny with the Yves's Seraph Attunement.

Oh, I see. I don't have that one, I was going on what it says in the main book.

Oops! I see there's more than one post here! Lemme add this reply here and clean up the spares.

...well, yes. Does make it kind of hard for redeemed to pose as Fallen, around the right sort of Gamester.

In theory, yes. Though Humanity would trump that, of course.

I dunno... It's not a query that I've seen before, that I recall, but I may be forgetful.

*innocent*

A more important function then finding an angel who is willing to slum as a demon, is to find out where the demons are.

Or, at least, where the Game demons are. Demons of The Game are even less popular in Hell then angels of Judgement are in Heaven, and they're considerably more likely to be waylaid, mislaid, shot from behind and their vessel dumped in the bay, etc. then their Heavenly counterparts. The way I see it, "how can I get rid of this guy from Judgement?" is a question that is only seriously asked on rare occasions by angels, when they really need to do something that would ping Dominic's radar, whereas "How can I get rid of this guy from The Game" is a serious question that every other demon asks as soon as one shows up, and will be acted on if an opportunity presents itself.

Thus, Gamester's abilities to recognize demons is limited by their institutional culture. Few demons go to a Gamester asking "Can you tell me if this guy is a demon?", because then a) you've drawn the attention of the Game to yourself, and b) you now owe The Game a favor. Neither are good circumstances.
