Internet speeds for online Roleplaying

Out of curiosity what kinds of internet connection speeds are required for the various online role-playing applications?

Just speed tested my connection to a current 0.3 mbps though I am fairly sure it can get up to 3 mbps.

For most it's probably around 30-50 kbps, for video it's around 80-90 kbps for the low-fi setting on Hangouts. It's not really a lot.

Measured my connection a different way and got 20kBps. Bits vs Bytes I suppose.

takes at least an hour to download a hundred Mb file.

O.o damn is the internet slow in New Zealand? Almost sounds like you are using dial-up.

I just did a speed test and got a download speed of 60.12 Mbps

The Internet is slow unless you happen to be in one of the main centers. Usual case of telecommunications company trying to extract maximum dollars from infrastructure with minimum investment. They just avoided some dreaded investment by dividing up the company and selling it to themselves. All the benefits of a monopoly with the legal bonus of having another company around to take the blame.

Being in a rural area does not help the cause much either.
