Default GURPS LOWTECH Questions

Will the new GURPS lowtech cover TLs 1-4 or will it start at TL 0?

How many pages is it expected to be?

We're covering TL0-4. After Low Tech, GURPS will have specific coverage of the full range of TLs.

There may be adjustments, but IIRC the core book (which will be available in hardcopy as well as the usual e23 treatment) will be 160 pages, and the three companions (PDF-only) will be 30-ish pages.

I don't know if it's a faux pas or not to ask here, but when (ballpark, at least) can we expect Low Tech to be released? I have no idea how long it generally takes from "playtest" to "release date."

I need it, like, yesterday ;)

It's not faux pas so much as it's kinda useless. It can vary wildly depending on the size of the project, its complexity, the priority assigned to it, and the vagaries of employing authors (who are a notoriously unpredictable lot) and having a very small pool of qualified labor available to do the editing and production. I can say that the final draft is due in a week or so, which means that we're looking at a minimum of several months until you can hold a physical, professionally printed and bound copy in your hands.

For that, you need a time machine, which I believe is in Ultra Tech. So you can blame Pulver.

The chances of it being out in 2009 are nil. The chances of it being out in the first to second quarter of 2010 are decent. And by summer 2010, you should definitely have it. Unless Stuff happens.

What is this word, "generally"? There is no useful, firm schedule. None. First, because of how many people are involved. Second, because of how many steps are involved. The upshot is that we end up with huge range of possible dates – I'm talking a target that's over a year wide – and "leaving playtest" is nearer to the "just started writing" side of that spread than to the "published" side.

The good news at least is that, given how much work is being put into it, it will likely live up to expectations. I know I'm looking forward to it.

You didn't even include the "raking in the cash" step...

The "?" step always comes right before the "Profit!" one.

From what I've seen, a *lot* of work has been put into it. I'm looking forward to it being a great addition to the GURPS product line.

GURPS TL 0: At this tech level, dice are simply rocks with the word UGH carved into one side. If UGH comes up on top, you win. Any other roll is a critical failure.
