Most Elementalists aren't focused on combat in my setting. Fire Elementalists are the only ones used in battle. Others are too busy doing important things like building houses and making sure the Elementalist-powered aquifers keep working.

Have you read the intermediate comics? The Promise (how Toph starts her metal-bending academy, and how some of the older Fire Nation colonies in the Earth Kingdom end up being allowed to stay)? And The Search (Zuko goes in search of his mother, and uncovers secrets)?

Has anyone considered how you do: Multi-Benders (sort of less powerful 'version's of the Avatar without the Avatar state).

So you could bend 2 of the 4 elements,

And then you have people like Ty-lee who can like Chi-tap you...

That shouldn't be too hard to do. The main question would be how much of an Unusual Background to charge.

Neutralize is the most obvious route to take. I've also considered making it a technique of the Pressure Point skill (since it seems to be taught as part of a martial art).

Benders need Talent, and even though it's 5 points and adds to skills, it's essentially something that doesn't transfer. Being able to use multiple elements will already split the points and prevent you from taking additional skills as alternate abilities (different source), so I figure that is enough of a drawback for the diversification you get.

Yes, either seems to fit.

Yes, yes, you do. :-)

My wife, myself, and her son are watching season 3. And we're waiting for him to come back from camp until we watch last week's and this week's episodes...

I've gone through four or five pages (for the first time in about 5 years...). Is the spiritual side of the Avatar included anywhere?

I waited until after summer camp as well, but as he's been back 2 weeks. I finally watched to where I'm waiting on the next shows.

Most of this was based on the first 3 seasons of the original series where the spiritual stuff mostly was a plot device (told Aang what to do). Towards the end of the last season, there was a few more hints but it manifested itself as giving Aang the ability to block a bender.

This series has added quite a bit more.
-Airbenders have projection/clairsentience and world jumper as an alternate abilities since they cannot bend while doing either.
-Water benders can "calm" spirits in some fashion.
-Blood bending was expanded to allow more permanent negative effects.
-Metal bending has become enough of an art to justify it's own template.
-Technology (almost steampunk) is somewhat impressive as well.

The 4th season will probably add some stuff for Fire benders.

Anyway, I've been taking notes and hopefully will have translated some of this into GURPs stats that I would use soon.

Season 3 does not disappoint. Best show/series ever.
