Consolation . . .

I now realize that the counters are intentionally blank on the reverse side.

Steve Jackson explains it in the unboxing video.

Yeah, my copy had a dinged corner inside of a pristine shipping box.

And actually, now on direct comparison of my Triplanetary counters with Ogre counters, the finish is comparable.

I think I fell for the illusion of quality in which the Ogre counters have more rounded, hex-conforming corners.

I'm sorry about jumping the gun in my evaluation above.

. . . speaking of guns, I'll wait to try those out somewhere in interplanetary space after some sleep.

Played my first game!

My 9-year old daughter and I played a modified bi-planetary game, one started on Venus, one on Terra so we only needed one board.

It was fun. Getting into orbit the first time was trickier than it looked at first glance, and there was a lot of take-backs and cross-checking, but I had fun and I think she did too. The fact that she had a better start and she won by a turn probably helped.

It's here !

Couple of broken corners on the box too, one obviously from shipping, the other not, but the board is intact.

Great quality !
The board is huge, here is a picture with the old one on top:

Edit : the board is flat, the wave are just shadows !

Very happy, Thanks !

Mine arrived on Friday. Already played two games with my kids over the weekend. Showing once again why SJG is my favorite game company.
