Default One Arm and Telekinesis

If you have Telekinesis can you get points for One Arm? Would your Telekinesis be one "armed"?

Sure, you can always be in a situation where you powers dont work, and to escape the room you need two arms!

TK + two arms is better than TK + one arm.

Why exactly? I'd rather have the other arm

If your Telekinesis does can work as usual arm then it can be a Mitigator to One Arm but no more. You need Cosmic at least to say that you has arm. So it's just cheaper not to claim One Arm but say that your arm is TK one. You could look for some examples of modified arms at DF 11: Power-Ups (see Necomancers PUs) or Bio-Tech (I think there should be ones), or Ultra-tech.

Don't forget that actual living arm has some traits other than TK one:
- it is material limb so it can be loaded, you don't need to concentrate to wear your shield;
- it has touch, temperature, pain and some other senses, especially hand;
- you don't need to concentrate to lift with two hands or wield two-handed gear if you have two arms;
- it's vulnerable to material weapons and threats, it can bleed and sense pain;

LOL, messed up the places. Anyway, replacing one word fixed it. :)

Anyway, Concentrate (or the extreme lengths one has to go to in order to get rid of it) is a big deal.

So the consensus is that because you need to concentrate to use TK a 2nd arm is still valued at 20 pt?

You don't get a discount on Extra Arms past the first either.

True but that logic does not always hold. If I were to look at taking One Arm twice I would think [-40] but No Fine Manipulators is [-30] or [-50].

I guess my problem with getting a full [-20] for One Arm is that if you have Telekinesis a lot of the things the book says about One Arm are no longer true for you most of the time: you can use two-handed weapons, dual wield, and you don't get -4 on "tasks that are possible with one arm but that are usually executed with two" if you use your Telekinesis!

If you don't put a power modifier on Telekinesis I don't see why you should worry about it being disabled any more then you worry about your hand(s) being disabled.

I don't see concentrate as that big a deal; it's not like it slows you down in combat. Except maybe drawing a weapon or shield you would have otherwise have been carrying and that takes, what, 1 second?

You need 10 levels of TK to be about as powerful as hands. Also, Concentrate is a very big deal. I means you can't run and defend in the same turn, and that any damage on you is likely to make you lose your weapon. Also, you cannot dual-wield with TK. It gives a pair of hands for handling one weapon, not two independent hands (unless using some expanded Powers or Psi Powers).
