Re: Gaming Ballistic - Posts other than GURPS (PotG)
in my 5E games, both D&DAL play, and home game, many fights run 5-7 rounds, with a few capping over 10 rounds (20 skeletons, 10 crawling claws, and a Spectator vs 6 PC's of 3rd and 4th level... on a fairly open field.)

How many Orcpower is your 5e character?
Unsurprisingly, as I revisit Barbarian, Bard, and Cleric, the powerful spellcasters win the day when faced with a ridiculously contrived set of foes. But denied that dense packing, our Barbarian is looking at about 2 orcs per turn . . . at least for 20 turns!

The Orcpower Quantification (that sounds like a Robert Ludlum novel) continues, with the Druid. Not bad, because putting yourself at the head of a small phalanx of grizzly bears can't be a bad thing.

The Lorica Project inspired a thought, so I tried to see if I could make a cuirass that held its shape like the simple shoulder guards of the lorica did.
I'll claim partial success.

Re: Gaming Ballistic - Posts other than GURPS (PotG)
Moving through the orcpower analysis, we come to Dwalin. I mean, the Champion Dual-Wielding 6th level dwarvish fighter.
Right. Dwalin. As I said. These guys don't have many special powers. But what they do, they can do all day, hardly ever varying in their output or abilities of which only the Action Surge and Second Wind require replenishment. Potent and with staying power. Gotta like that.

Re: Gaming Ballistic - Posts other than GURPS (PotG)
Game Night! I'm trying to start up a periodic game night at my daughter's school. Last night was the first one - and it was a moderate success. Not too many people (maybe nine were playing), but those that showed were very enthusiastic.
What did we play and how did it go?

Re: Gaming Ballistic - Posts other than GURPS (PotG)
Behold! The Orc-o-Matic! It slices. It dices. It calculates OrcPower.
And little else. So far. This utility was provoked by a note that spill-over damage wasn't really how things worked, which could throw off OrcPower by 30% or so. This excel sheet uses 10,000 iterations to come down to an average number of attacks per dead orc (and likewise for dead PC) and approaches OrcPower that way. It's very, very limited so far . . . but if you want to download it and modifiy, go right ahead. Give credit where it's due, and post your changes!

I put the Barbarian through Paladin into the Orc-o-Matic combat calculator. The results were instructive, though perhaps not terribly surprising.

Re: Gaming Ballistic - Posts other than GURPS (PotG)
My take on Supergirl (Ep 1). Short version: while there's a lot I'd like to have seen a bit differently, and though it was paced a bit like a game of plot-point whack-a-mole, this pilot episode got a lot out of the way for what could be a very strong series.
I enjoyed it, my daughter loved it, and I'll be back for more.
