Amphibious Car
Has anyone statted out an amphibious vehicle like the German WWII Scwimmwagen? I was thinking of doing so but with upgraded modern systems, and I don't own any GURPS WWII supplements. I also can't find any amphibious vehicles in my own rulebooks.

Re: Amphibious Car
The worked example in 3e Vehicles is a high-tech multi-environment car, IIRC.

Re: Amphibious Car
Most of the WWII amphibious cars/trucks appeared in the books (the Swimmwagen in Motor Pool, the DUKW and Amtrack in Dogfaces, for example).
There are a couple of designs on my site you might find of some use. The fist is the British Terrapin: http://copeab.tripod.com/Vehicles/Terrapin.html If you want something more generic, just ignore the color text. Put both engines up front driving the wheels combined (rather than one per side) and put the cargo space together. I also wrote up the American amphibious Jepp: http://copeab.tripod.com/Vehicles/GPA.htm as well as the M-29C Weasel: http://copeab.tripod.com/Vehicles/M29Weasel.htm I also do vehicle requests ;)

Re: Amphibious Car
I have statted up an amphibious RV (in 3e):
http://forums.sjgames.com/showthread.php?t=71530 I also did a modern sports car (http://www.terrawind.com/spyder.htm) by that same manufacturer, but I guess I never posted it. . . I have also been known to do requests :)

Re: Amphibious Car
Perhaps we could make this a design contest ;)
I'm sure all the 4e people would love to see a 3e vehicle design contest here :P

Re: Amphibious Car
heh. well actually I myself am a 4e player. even if my skill list is pretty heavily modified and almost every piece of equipment we use is a custom build. I have been having some difficulty making a dune buggy and also making it so that all the vehicles run on ultra tech power cells.

I don't have a website, but I do have many designs at what 3e calls TL8, including an amphibious spy car. The trick I used to pack features into a "spy car" that looked like a normal civilian sportscar was to decrease the size of the engine so that top speed was something reasonable for cruise, add turbofans to give it an impressive top speed, and use the saved volume for gadgets, or in the case of that submersible, for a hydrojet. Of course, the turbofans are much more expensive than a normal engine. GEF Last edited by Gef; 02-15-2012 at 06:34 PM. |
