Disappeared posts

On two occasions that I can recall a post of mine has just plain vanished from the forums. Now the posts in question weren't the greatest and I could have thought more before I posted them (not that they were inflammatory or anything like that, just lacking in usefulness) so I don't miss them.

Am I to assume that when a post vanishes that a mod/admin had weighed it and measured it, and found it useless?

Put it down to an phone autocorrection problem but this forum has so many quirks & foibles as to be deeply weird .

I went and looked at your post history and found precisely two posts that were deleted/hidden in the last seven months. One was removed because it was mildly derogatory (probably not by intent but I don't think the comment came off the way you intended). The other was deemed derailing for some reason but I didn't dig into the reason.

We reserve the right to trim or remove comments when they look like they are detracting from a conversation rather than adding to it, and that's true of joke comments as much as any other. As John Scalzi has said, the failure mode of "clever" is "a-hole."

I looked at your history as well. Two post deletions in the last seven months (I didn't go farther back). One was a duplicate post and one was a well-intentioned offer of help that nevertheless had liability concerns that we didn't want to deal with on our forums.
