Lava Toads
Young Lava Toad, large 1-hex
ST 16, DX 12, IQ 3, MA 6 Tongue as lasso or chew (1d+2) Skin stops 2 hits and is immune to fire. Treats jumps as a third of the actual distance. Adult Lava Toad, 3-hex ST 40, DX 12, IQ 4, MA 6 Tongue as lasso or chew (2d+2) Skin stops 4 hits and is immune to fire. Treats jumps as a third of the actual distance. These creatures will attempt to lasso moving prey with their tongues (treat as a lasso attack). If they fail it takes them a full turn of "ready weapon" to retract and reload. Once they hit roll a contest of ST with the victim each turn and the victim is drawn one hex closer for every four points the toad succeeds by. (If the victim wins they escape). Once drawn into the toad's mouth the victim will be auto-hit by a chew each turn and will be treated as being in HTH (but at -4 instead of +4 DX) for available weapon choices. These creatures lay their eggs in active volcanoes that are then triggered to erupt when the tadpoles are ready to turn into young toads, raining dozens of hungry mouths down to take advantage of the usual confusion of a volcanic eruption.

Re: Lava Toads
Quite nice. I really like the mechanics for the tongue.
I like the image of a shower of toads. Frogs seem more traditional, but fire immune lava toads will certainly do. |
