Yeah, Chauncy was what I was I thinking of actually.

And IIRC, the last time he did so, it didn't go well. It's a big risk he's taking, and even if he's cautious, he realizes that he's been an idiot to grow dependent on Chauncy's information.

While I'm not a Dresden expert, I believe Chauncy is more of an unreliable, supernatural Contact than a "summoned monster." Most people who summon demons in MH do so without full knowledge of the dangers involved, and end up being the first in a long list of victims . . .

Well, Harry definitely summons him into a circle, but it is purely for informational purposes, not to compel supernatural boons or set him against Harry's enemies. And he got to the point where he admitted he was more or less just going through the motions in terms of trying to tempt Harry to his side... although that might just be a ploy to lull Harry into a false sense of security.

Summoning the Erl-King in Dead Beat was considerably riskier and certainly couldn't be represented by an existing advantage, he wasn't even specifically aware of the Erl-King until about halfway through the book.

Stranger summoning Baron Samedi was a case of dangerous but not automatically disastrous sort of thing. (And he's a Monster Hunter to boot.) Not exactly a demon, though.

Also, working from vague recollections, didn't Constantine, or Skeeve's original teacher from Myth, summon demons?

Finally, do DF Demonologists and WoW Warlocks count? ;)

Yes, when he's had to.

Demons in Myth aren't really demons in the sense meant here, and also it's Light Fanatasy, not whatever we want to call monster hunting fiction.

Clearly the wrong genre.
