Blood alcohol content? Really? Can he do a full blood count and liver panel?

It's completely supernatural. He just... knows.

Peter:

Wasn't saying there was, but I just felt the character's primary feature ought to cost some points. Maybe that's just irrational thinking.

While most of what you describe is just fluff from lightning calculator, Basically Sherlock Holmes. Lighting Calculator plus points in the relevant skills.

you might be happier with Sunrunner's Detect Build.

Huh. Well, I'll see if the GM will take it, I suppose. That Detect is awfully expensive.

Well then the Drop the Cosmic +50% and swap it out for Magic -10% or ESP -10% though you will run into ways for people to obsure such numbers from you if you do so.

That's okay. I just wanted to point the potential multi-Advantage solution. I agree with you that the total cost of such an ability should almost certainly be a lot more than 1 CP.

I think Lightning Calculator, plus some levels of the Mathematical Ability Talent, plus a Perk to measure stuff (requires a PER roll). Maybe 3D Spatial Sense too.

I think the problem is the baseline cost of the super-broad Detect. With a high baseline cost, every +10% Enhancement makes you bleed points.

That's not bad RPG design, the Enhancement thing. But I think the problem is better attempted solved by re-defining the Detect so that its baseline cost is lowered. Sure, it is very broad, but it's not exceedingly useful in all situations.

In addition to being overpriced for what it does, its' rather overkill.

The character 'knows', reflexively, the numerical properties of anything and everything around it at all times to an infinite degree of precision with the only limitation being its' ability to understand what it knows (as represented by the sense roll). Its' a godlike understanding of the world that real-world scientists would gladly murder continents worth of people to have.

And it isn't worth that amount of points. It doesn't do anything adventure-relevant to worth that amount of points. You can kill worlds for less ...

The category breadth may be negotiable. If you change the category from Very Common to Rare, it goes down to [20]. To Occasional, it goes down to [39]. To Common, it goes down to [78].

You can add limitations to it. You can drop the cosmic and add a different power modifier. You can do a number of things to mitigate the cost. But ... doing any of those things makes it less useful than it already is.

Heh.
