Default Comprehensive Curses + Clerical Error

If we're in this dungeon and this curse is played during someone's turn (let's just assume it's not during a combat). Does this mean that the monster then fights all players simultaneously and combat begins and must be resolved for everyone?

Or does this mean that on each subsequent player's turn, in place of "kicking the door down," the monster that was at the top of the discard when the curse was first played then fights that player (and so forth and so on for each player's turn)?

Starting at the top of the discard pile, each player takes the top monster and must fight it. Because everyone's fighting simultaneously, no one may help anyone else. EXCEPTION: If there was already a helper in the current fight, then the main player's monster AND the helper's monster join that fight.

For ease of play, you should resolve each combat one at a time, but remember that they occur simultaneously in game terms. If there's corpse-looting to be done, it doesn't get done until all fights are resolved.

Does each player take a different monster (assume clockwise in order from the player whose turn it is), or are all players' monsters the same guy who was nearest the top of the discards? If it's the former case, then is there any effect on players who draw after the lowest monster has been selected?

Thanks!

The way that Andrew referred to the main player's monster and the helper's monster as different entities makes it clear to me that they are separate monsters drawn simultaneously due to the Curse, then fought in turn as per his instructions.

The Curse would just have no effect for the remaining Munchkins if you ran out of Monsters in the discard pile, just like if the card were played when there were no monsters in the discard pile for a single player.

But in the FAQ:

A. Yes. Um. Well. That's a good one... Because Clerical Error puts you into combat, and you cannot have a bunch of combats going all at once, we're going to punt and say that Clerical Error cannot be made Comprehensive. Play that Curse as it's written.
Which one is the most up-to-date ruling?

Also, can I play card or use ability to interfere other player's combat if every one is in combat at the same time?

Thanks.

The FAQ ruling is newer.

Wow, I had no idea that one had changed. Time to go and have a look at the new changes to the FAQ!
