I'm still kind of unsure about this. Isn't it system-dependent? In D&D, I think you have to kill monsters and loot the bodies or something. In GURPS, you have to engage in dramatically interesting actions, which is a lot less specific. In CofC, you have to attempt skill use and succeed, which is under the control of the dice; about all you can do is attempt a lot of skill use, and especially of skills that are around 50%. I can't have as good an idea in some cases as in others.

#1 PG vs CG: I always have a good idea what my character needs to do to advance to the next level.

We want a question that contrasts power gamer tendencies from casual gamer tendencies. Regardless of the system, a power gamer has a plan for making their character more capable. A casual gamer isn’t opposed to improving their character, but it’s not why they play.

I used “next level” terminology hoping it was generic enough that even if the game systems you’re familiar with never use that phrase, you’ll understand the meaning behind it and be able to answer accordingly. If that’s not the case, I should to swap “next level” out for something that’s clear to players of any system.

I pretty much got that that was what was intended. I was more puzzling over whether the item was meant to be read literally or figuratively. The phrasing "making my character more capable" seems clear, but I wasn't sure that that was what was meant.

In a lot of the games I play, how one advances is trivial. The interesting question is what specific advances one aims at. Do I spend my character points on buying up IQ, or buying specific skills (and which skills?), or put them into gaining social advantages? I'm thinking about that, but I'm not sure if it's included in what you mean.

23.6% method actor
20.4% storyteller
17.6% tactician
14.8% butt-kicker
13.4% power gamer
10.2% casual gamer
0% specialist

And you know, that's a nice fit to my sig line. . . .

How about “I know how to most effectively improve my character’s capabilities.”? A power gamer wants to make his character better and better and knows how to exploit the rules to ensure this happens.

Power Gamer: 63%
Butt-Kicker: 67%
Tactician: 38%
Specialist: 42%
Method Actor: 33%
Storyteller: 42%
Casual Gamer: 46%

Since 'Comedian' isn't a choice I think it came out pretty accurate

I think that definitely makes it clear. Or "I always have a plan for improving my character's capabilities."

I went with, for #1 PG vs CG: I plan and know how to most effectively improve my character’s capabilities.

EDIT: An "on" was dropped from #1 thanks to whswhs's post below.

Content is fine. But grammatically it's not properly parallel; "I plan on . . . to most effectively improve" doesn't work. I would take out the word "on."

For example, trying to dissect my own results:

[#3 TT vs MA: Accomplishing party objectives trumps role-playing opportunities.] Going along with the party is a CG trait, as well as TT. "Accomplishing objectives" is usually a lot like "finishing the story", which would be a ST trait.
Indeed. Maybe something like “Doing what is tactically sound sound trumps role-playing opportunities.”?

I agree “fully-realized” and “in-game” match ST and a well as MA, but “personal” is pretty unique to MA. I’m thinking in need to reword this question so the “personal” aspect is prominent and the more ST elements are minimized.

My interpretation (correct me if I’m wrong) is that a SP will (at least try to) find a way to play his/her go-to character regardless of the genre/rules/whatever. A BK will find a way to kick the most butt regardless of the genre/rules/whatever. That’s what I’m trying to get at with this question. At this point, I’m not inclined to change it; I welcome arguments to the contrary.

I like the escapism and power fantasy. If I wanted to be me, I can do that without an RPG. So, this question draws a "never" from me. The disagree here doesn't seem to me to point to MA. Even the agree doesn't seem to be CG in particular. The psychodrama types might be MA, Billy Badass might think his BK is "pretty much just me", or the ST is just as happy with characters that are "just me" because he can still develop the plot.
My reasoning was that CG wouldn’t learn or care about the rules enough to really create and role-play a character that was much different from themselves. There may be a better way to separate the CG from the MA; I haven’t come up with any and am open to suggestions.

Also a fair component of ST, because you can't tell much of a story if the party is dysfunctional and inept. (Better be a comedy, or it'll be short and unsatisfying for more than just the STs.)
Good points. How about “The characters I play are the most integral to solving the campaign’s problems.”?

The stereotypical MA that always has to have the angsty conflicted character would be "the same type", even if it changes from swashbuckler to vampire to paladin "types”.
Maybe something like “Since I play the same type of character, everyone knows how I’ll deal with any problem.”?

But you might disagree for any number of reasons which don't point to MA. My satisfaction comes from exciting combat (BK); my satisfaction comes from levelling (PG); my satisfaction comes from being with the group (CG). Any answer but "always" is building up weight for MA that may not be justified.
How about something like “My satisfaction comes from the larger story, not my character’s story arc.”
