Default Eleven people botching their Perception checks

How did you guys not notice the spambot? Usually, everyone's quick to pick up on these things.

Note the Last Edited date for the OP. It was edited, probably to add the hyperlink, almost two weeks after the thread died. How posting a link into a dead thread without posting a new message makes for good spamming I don't know, though it would trip out the search engines like Google which look for how many times a website is linked to from other websites when it ranks a page for usefulness.

Is there such a thing as a time-delay spambot? First i've heard of it.

Might not have been a spambot but rather a spamperson. I have no idea why it was edited two weeks after thread death, but there it is.

So really, only one person failed his Perception check. :-)

Two year dead thread, one post by the spammer. Best case scenario nothing happens. Worst case we actually call him back so he can spam again.

It's actually very common. They're much harder to catch, as editing ones post retroactively doesn't "bump" it, so it doesn't necessarily get anyone's attention.

And it doesn't matter if a human ever sees the link or not. Google spiders will see it, and the target site gets a teensy bump.

First, don't post forum business in Chatter. There's a Feedback forum for that precise purpose. Moving thread as soon as this response posts.

Second, there are more constructive ways to bring posts like this to people's attention than a post that says how oblivious we all are. Reporting spam posts or any other kind of post should be done by using the "report post" function -- click on the red triangle in the bottom left of any message. It's far less gratifying to your ego, but it's a much faster way of getting our attention
