Default 4-gauge shotgun

In adventure guns, under the shutgun ammo table, 4-gauge ammo is listed. For the life of me I can't find any shotgun in the book that uses that ammo, whats it for?

I'm not finding it either. A few bits of information that might be useful:

The terms "Bore" and "Gauge" are essentially interchangeable, both referring to the number of iron balls of that size to make a pound.

There is one 4-bore in the book (an alternate on the Remington rolling block), and I'm not sure if the greener elephant riffle should really be an 8-bore. Historically, its the greener 4-bore that gets called an elephant gun. Both would be riffles, I think.

I think the 8-bore is supposed to be 8-bore. Its the same one listed that way in high-tech to I believe.

14-gauge is also listed, but not used. I suspect Hans decided to list all the standard sizes so the numbers would be available for people working up stats for other guns.

That seems like a good idea. The recoil from a 4-bore would be impressive, though making it heavier could compensate somewhat, and if you're using a 4-bore and aren't an ogre, giant, or similar (Old West Dungeon Fantasy? there are a couple of gun-using DF templates in Pyramid, though either one would need a bit of work to be TL5), you're probably more worried about power than about portability or concealment, anyway.

IIRC, there was KS-23 (23x75 mm, what roughly equals to 4-Gauge) in Modern Firepower 3e.

More like a 6-gauge, so only slightly insane.

There have been 1-bore punt guns. Guns intended to fire a pound of lead shot at a flock of ducks.
