Limited Photographic memory
I read recently about how in real world cases this sometimes happens. One guy said he could recall in vivid detail everything he'd ever seen but wasn't any better than anyone else at remembering songs or conversations he'd had. Another said that they could remember every conversation he'd ever had but had a normal memory otherwise. Apparently a common one is where people are much better than remembering things they've read than things they'd seen or heard. How would you model this? I'm tempted to say fifty percent for only visual/aural but am unsure of what only written should be.

Re: Limited Photographic memory
At first glance it sounds like Aspected (-20%) to me.

Re: Limited Photographic memory
The Profiling modifier on a given sense is pretty close to this.

Re: Limited Photographic memory
Agreed. -20% sounds like a reasonable discount. Depending on how large the category is, I could see it going from -10% to -40%.

Re: Limited Photographic memory
You could do the same for other senses -- perfect pitch / tonal recall / melodic memory for musicians, for instance. Probably rates a somewhat higher discount than for remembering visual images since vision is such a dominant sense for humans.

Re: Limited Photographic memory
I just make it a leveled Perk 1 point for Eidetic Memory in one specific category (songs, books, conversations, etc), 2 points for Photographic in the same very specific category.
It's such a rarely invoked advantage anyway. |
