Re: List Of your favorite Custom Perks
Hyperrational:
I once had a character who when he heard his sister was kidnapped by a warlord turned around and started a game of chess. A couple weeks later he arrived on the warlord's doorstep with an angry and bloodthirsty posse and sacked his castle.

Well, that kinda-sorta makes sense, if he was using the chess game to figure out certain strategies in preparation for the sacking....

But what he was really doing was even more interesting. He was using the chess game as a psychological tool to keep himself in proper function while his brain was in high gear. He was in effect jackbooting his already dour emotions to keep himself in shape like a mental version of Rockie running up and down stairs and beating up pig corpses.

One-task-wonder for knowledge of a specialised aspect of law across all the jurisdictions in the game. I invented this for a naval petty officer in charge of discipline, who knows the laws on alcohol and drinking everywhere his ship might go.

Re: List Of your favorite Custom Perks
Star-adapted Vision: If the darkness penalty is -2 to -9, you can ignore up to -2 in darkness penalty, provided that the primary source of illumination is the natural light of the moon and stars. If an artificial light source that would reduce the darkness penalty appears, you lose the benefit of this perk while it is present.
(Essentially this is 2 levels of night vision with an accessibility limitation, intended for certain elves and other fantasy beings who prefer starlight to humans' torches or flashlights, even when there's otherwise no good mechanical reason to do so.) A similar Cave-adapted Vision, for when the primary light source is natural or pseudo-natural phosophoresence or bioluminesence, might be suitable for cavedwelling goblins and such. |

"Never naturally talks in his sleep," hastily purchased by one of the Infinite Cabal characters when he learned a Word of Power (Thaumatology, p178-79)

Drunken Master: Penalties for being under the influence of alcohol do not apply to your combat skills. They still apply to anything else, including self control rolls, while drunk, depending on your disadvantages, you may still start fights you wouldn't otherwise.

Sleep Convo: You can hold coherent conversations with people while you're sleep. Whether you remember the conversation or not is entirely up to your Dreaming skill. :) (Note that you don't need the Dreaming skill to be able to pull this off.)
(This is something I was accused of doing by my sisters growing up. "We were talking about it last night" was something I heard on a regular basis; I never remembered the conversations happening, nor what they were about.)

Re: List Of your favorite Custom Perks
I did that a lot from childhood to my teen years as well. But it was more annoying than a perk as it was lost bonding time with my graveyard shift working father.
