Obviously the player put all his points into Piloting skill. Because he's a good pilot, and that's the one you need in combat.

A man crossed the English Channel today. On a hover board.

During the flight, the man (with the very player-character-like name Franky Zapata) carried a backpack with 40l+ kerosene. Which burns pretty well.

So - early TL 9 or a superhero - parallel?

Note that he comments his calf was burning - he didn't say whether that was the metaphorical burn of muscle exhaustion, or the physical burning from radiant and/or convective heating by the exhaust...
