Body Language is all about using the subject's detectable body state such as posture, facial expression etc. (usually by vision, but there are alternatives such as touch, and probably it's also possible to use mm-wave RADAR, LIDAR, Field Sense and some weirder high-resolution senses). Quote:

A well-trained BL user should detect the overall feel of the target, just like Empathy does, and give a hint that the target has some social disability. I think. |

Re: [Basic] Skill of the week: Body Language
It is possible to learn a certain amount about the mood or feelings of a person operating a vehicle by watching the vehicle's behaviour. The easiest thing to learn is "They don't know how to do it," which is usually pretty obvious.
What would you think of a different specialisation of Body Language, (Vehicular), for being good at this?

Re: [Basic] Skill of the week: Body Language
I probably wouldn't base it on Body Language, unless it's a very generous Technique thereof. Probably Observation or just a Per-based Driving roll. It doesn't cover a very large body of knowledge, and it can only give very simple information... and I suggest it's not a very difficult thing to do in the first place. So call it an Easy Technique, defaults at +2 (say) to Observation or Driving (Per), or Body Language +3.

Re: [Basic] Skill of the week: Body Language
An as yet unmentioned aspect of Body Language is in gambling. It would be the Skill for spotting a "tell".
Detect Lies needs to be a verbal interaction skill IMHO. I think it is sometimes possible to detect intent to decive by choice of words and rhetorical stance. You can find political spin this way and that's almost all made with intent to decieve even if technical or arguable "truth" might remain. I'd be more interested in intent to decieve. That is a little more like "Detect Liar" than Detect Lies though. If the target seemed focussed on the technical truth of some statement it might even be "Detect Lawyer". :) Body Language would be more likely to detect anxiety than intent. It wouldn't help if a sociopath or similar person who can tell lies without feeling anxiety was the target while Detect Lies still might if the lies were not well chosen.

The question is, though, if would you expect a trained driver to be better at this than yourself.
