Default d10 power in combat

Ok, so i have another question for you.

When in combat, can i use level modifier cards to either parts (players or monsters) after a D10 has been rolled for combat d10 powers?

What i get from rules is that no card can be played after the dice have been rolled but i figured that this might only mean the d6 and therefore i could use the warrior or wizards d10 power and after that think if i need help or not from another munchkin.

When it talks about dice being rolled, it means the six-siders. You can check the d10 power and continue playing cards and soliciting help.

That doesn't make sense to me. Wouldn't their power be realized at the instant of combat?

Please explain this further. I don't know what you mean by "their power [would] be realized."

d10 powers are elective; in that respect, it's just like playing a card. Who says it has to be done at the beginning of combat?

Yes, Petrovini - as I read you, your reasoning is sound. Of course, you can't use the d10 power(s) after both sides have rolled the d6 dice....

I interpret this similarly to having something in your pack: if you don't have it in your hands or on your belt, then you can't use it. With d10, when do you know it works? When you try it. At level 1, you're armed with the equivalent of a matchlock. At level 10, you've got a well machined glock.

Since it doesn't specifically say anywhere when to roll the d10 power, I argued very loudly and invoked the owner's rule.

But it does say when to roll the d10 power, on each Class card. The Classes that have "in combat" d10 powers can use them at any point during the fight. It doesn't have to be right at the beginning or the end.

"d10 Power: +5 combat bonus. You may make one attempt per combat."

That doesn't say you can use them at any point in the combat, just that you can only make one attempt per combat. The rules say when you can play cards, but not when you can use powers.

Unfortunately, they didn't use the warrior's d10 power in the example of Munchkin Babe & Galadrool vs the Ancient Hairy Baby Shrieking Geek. That might have settled things.

Nowhere in the combat rules does it explicitly state that d10 power is used during the turn. There is a section on die rolling that could be interpreted as including any die rolling.

So, from a rules point of view and a logic point of view, I think I win. As I own the game, it is now law. ;-)

And since they don't specify a precise time, you may make the attempt AT ANY TIME during combat, from when you first turn over the monster card until right before you roll the pretty colored dice.

That is the official ruling. If you want to declare otherwise in your game, that's your prerogative, but it's a house rule.
