Default Doesn't Sleep- Overpriced?

Doesn't Sleep is worth 20 points, compared with Doesn't Eat or Drink for 10pts, or with 10 levels of Less Sleep (if it wasn't capped to 4 hours). You could buy 6 extra FP, or more if it was limited to "Sleep Only".

Is protection against possible FP loss worth that much, especially when it's a rule most GMs wouldn't think to apply?

Doesn't sleep means also that you can always stay guard the whole night long, work longer and you can never get killed in your sleep. Quite handy I think.

It also makes you immune to sleep spells.

True, but...

Work longer- only if the rest of the party have the same advantage, otherwise there won't be much adventuring happening.

Stay guard/never get killed- Useful, but 20pts useful? Same as saying you will never get poisoned by your chicken burger because you have Doesn't Eat.

it also adds a bucket load of study hours for improving skills through study (56 hours a week extra).

Doesn't sleep basically means: 8h a day doing what you want to do. This can easily give you a major edge in learning, money and so on.

I think it's worth it.

Then I enforce fp loss due to not sleeping, and use the Time Use Sheets for studying.

the first point here effectively doubles a charactors ability to earn money through having two regular jobs or allow you to be an adventurer in the local area and have a night job.

the second point is invaluable as having a charactor who can be a sentry that never falls asleep on duty and allows ALL the rest of the group to get a full nights sleep.

I am currently running a PC with 4 levels reduced sleep (4 hrs night).

I have found it well worth the 8 pts.

Pretty much for all of the above reasons. <Nevermind the skeptical look that comes over the GM's face about my "plans" which then fades as he remebers/is reminded about the extra 4 hours a day ;->

But if you gave me the choice of swapping his Luck (15 pts) for Doesnt Sleep (20 pts) I would say no.

I would probably say 15 pts if I were tempted to houserule it.

This is probably what I was trying to get at. As useful as it is from other posters' suggestions, is it worth 20pts? Would you take it instead of, say, Danger Sense or Combat Reflexes (both of which, btw, could arguably help prevent you being attacked in your sleep).

The only balancing counter-argument would be the extra time for study, and you'd of course have to be in a campaign which made use of that.

If sleeping time is devoted entirely to study, you could get your 200 hours of extra study in 25 days, an extra 1CP every month or so. Is that worth it when compared to advancement through adventuring?
