Default Guest Artist Edition discussion thread

Hey, here's a thread for talking about next year's Munchkin Guest Artist Editions. Feel free to talk about them or ask any questions you might have. I'll start y'all off:

Q: How many Guest Artist Editions will there be?
A: We don't know yet. We're still talking about some cool ideas for the second half of the year!

Nevermind, I just found my answer.
So, they're redoing the entire set of cards? Wow.
I'll be honest, the collector in me is screaming to buy buy buy! But the realist in me says "You don't have the money for that." I mean, yeah new art is cool, but I don't really need multiple sets of the same cards, even if they do look different.

This is my thought.

I may buy one of the new versions just to have a Deluxe version of Munchkin in my inventory, but am going to wait until they announce more of the core sets. I wouldn't be surprised if Katie Cook has a Guest Artist Edition with all of the work she has done with SJGames recently.

Overall, the announcement is cool, but I hope more things have been planned.

I am hoping to see a few of the sets that I don't yet have get Guest Artist editions so that I can justify picking up one or two. Munchkin Booty, Fu, or Impossible would be great for me.

Yeah, depending on the artist, that would definitely put some of the sets I've been wavering on over the top.

I've been thinking about replacing my old (pre-201) Munchkin for a while now, and this seems like just the excuse I've been waiting for.

So, do I:

A) Buy Munchkin Deluxe: GAE and mix it into my already crazily oversized Munchkin Fantasy deck, having some duplicate (text) cards that probably won't matter because the decks are so spread out that the odds of them repeating at some point in the same game are probably pretty small.

B) Buy Munchkin Deluxe: GAE and replace my M1 cards out of my mega deck.

C) Buy Munchkin DELUXE: GAE and keep it separate for individual play.

Decisions, decisions. Anyone think of any weird rules issues that might come up by having two sets of M1 in the same deck? I might house rule that if you have a particular monster in combat, a monster with the exact same name can join without a Wandering Monster card. So if I'm fighting the original Maul Rat and you have the GAE version in your hand, you can add him to my combat. But that's a discussion for a different thread, I guess.

Well that's interesting. Would this be a collector's edition or would it likely be printed and re-printed as needed?

I wouldn't recommend playing with multiple copies of the same deck. Pretty sure there's a weird Hoard! interaction that we don't want to cope with.

I could see that being an issue. Could be fixed by culling one of the Hoard! cards out... but yeah, the weird rules conflictions is the first thing I thought of when having two of the same deck here... so probably best to avoid that. I guess we could start a separate thread to discuss how two M1 decks interact, but I'm not sure it'd be worth it. If other posters express an interest in it, maybe we can. I don't want to completely derail this thread.

Knowing that you won't comment on unannounced plans, do you forsee GAEs of expansions as a possibility? I mean, obviously if the first shipment sells out in two days, Munchkin 2: GAE would probably get fast tracked...
