Default Quick Question: Bows and Heroic Archer Help

So... Wait... Bows. How do I actually use them? Round-by-round details, please, and stuff like what accuracy, bulk, etc. really does.

How does Heroic Archer (MA 45) actually affect this?

I'm still a little wobbly on the rules, and could use a good explanation. Thanks!

Turn 1: Take an Arrow from the quiver
Turn 2: Prepare the arrow on the bow
Turn 3: Shoot or Aim
This is the base process, you take at least 3 seconds for each arrow.
Fast draw reduces that by molding together Turn 1 & 2, you take 2 seconds/arrow.
Heroic Archer let's you shoot every second if you accept the penalty on attack and fast draw.

Normal Archer (Standing shot):

Turn 1: Ready : Draw arrow from quiver.
Turn 2: Ready : Notch arrow onto bow and draw bow.
Turn 3: Aim (1 turn): You'll the want the Accuracy Bonus to hit anything at range
Turn 4: Attack/All-Out Attack

Optionally you may Aim for an additional 1 or 2 turns before attacking to get the extra bonus for aiming for 2 or 3 turns.

Normal Archer (Running Shot):

Turn 1: Ready : Draw arrow from quiver and Step.
Turn 2: Ready : Notch arrow onto bow, draw bow and Step.
Turn 3: Move and Attack: Add the bow's bulk penalty to your attack roll

Normal Archer (Close Combat Shot):

Turn 1: Attack: Add the bow's bulk penalty to your attack roll

(Assumes someone stepped into Close Combat after you've notched your arrow and drawn your bow.)

If you have Fast Draw (Arrow) a successful roll lets you skip the Ready spent drawing an arrow from the quiver. For a standing shot you may use the rules for Quick-Shooting Bows, this lets you skip the Ready spent drawing your bow, but doesn't allow you to Aim, drawing and firing the bow becomes a single attack action with this option.

For the Close Combat Shot you may buy up the Close Combat Technique to completely remove the bulk penalty from your attack roll. If your bow isn't ready to attack you may want to Fast Draw and Quick-Shoot as necessary.

Heroic Archer (Standing shot):

Turn 1: Ready : Draw arrow from quiver.
Turn 2: Ready : Notch arrow onto bow and draw bow.
Turn 3: Attack/All-Out Attack : You automatically have the bonus for Aim(1 turn)

Optionally you may Aim for 1 or 2 turns before attacking to get the extra bonus for aiming for 2 or 3 turns.

Heroic Archer (Running Shot):

Turn 1: Ready : Draw arrow from quiver and Step.
Turn 2: Ready : Notch arrow onto bow, draw bow and Step.
Turn 3: Move and Attack: No bulk penalty to your attack roll, but also no aim bonus

Heroic Archer (Close Combat Shot):

Turn 1: Attack: No bulk penalty to your attack roll, but also no aim bonus

(Assumes someone stepped into Close Combat after you've notched your arrow and drawn your bow.)

If you have Fast Draw (Arrow) a successful roll lets you skip the Ready spent drawing an arrow from the quiver. As an Heroic Archer you will also halve the total of a number of penalties, rounding in your favour

You may use Quick-Shooting Bows for both running shots and standing shots, at halve the penalty, letting you skip the turn spent drawing your bow. For a standing shot your attack roll will get the bow's Acc bonus.

The Close Combat Technique is not required. If your bow isn't ready to attack you may want to Fast Draw and Quick-Shoot as necessary. This is far more likely to succeed as an Heroic Archer.

That should cover most things, hope it helps.

Step 0: Ready Bow if necessary
Step 1: Ready Arrow (ie, retrieve from quiver)
Step 2: Draw Bow
Step 3: Aim for Acc bonus (optional; may extend to 3 turns for Acc+2)
Step 4: Fire
Return to Step 1

A character with Fast Draw (Arrow) can make a skill roll to ready the arrow while he draws the bow, cutting time by a second. He may also Quick-Shoot the bow (see Martial Arts, pg 119), making a Bow-6 roll to draw and fire the bow in a single second; the attack roll is also at -6, and cannot be Aimed (at least, by my reading of the rule). Preceded by a Fast Draw (Arrow) roll, this lets the archer ready an arrow, draw back the bow and fire it all in one second, giving an effective RoF 1. Heroic Archer is greatly useful here, because not only does it give the Acc bonus without the need to Aim, it also halves the Quick-Shooting penalties, and any Fast Draw penalties for posture, position or adverse conditions.

EDIT: Ninja'd, heavily. =P
