JLV, I don't know if what you wrote just sounds backwards to me or if you're not reading the same rules I am, but I see:

You know what? You're exactly right -- I was going off a pre-final version of the rules that said if the staff was destroyed, you had to start over. That was subsequently changed and explained with the "you're not actually doing anything to the piece of wood, but rather training your mind to use the staff that way..." statement.

I prefer the default premise of 'ST for Spells', but I have been working on an alternative source of mystical power that will use IQ.
