Alternative names for 'Memetics'?

I'm planning a campaign in which Memetics will play a big part. But... I don't want to use the term 'Memetics', since my players will immediately think of funny internet pictures and it'll be kinda awkward to keep correcting them.

Does anyone have any ideas on some good names I could use as a replacement?

It may be a bit broad, but perhaps "informatics" would fit.

Write it the same way but alter the stresses on the words. It's not "Meem-etics" it's "Mem-etics". The characters deal with "Mems".

Either that or lean into the future shock, and have academic journals debating whether "I CAN HAZ CHEESEBURGER" was part of early 21st century fat shaming, a manifestation of memes created by late 20th century fast food advertising or post-ironic criticism of consumerism as scarcity of food steadily declined.

In the end the reason 'memetics' exists in THS is because it was a buzzword back when THS was written. I think nowadays it would be called viral marketing.

If you're using it as an applied technology, yes. But THS seems to define memetics also as a theoretical and empirical science of human communication and learning.
