I hadn't thought of that. An excellent idea . . . ! (Which you might consider thinking about . . . just a suggestion for everyone with a scenario idea. 'Nuff said for now! <grin>) Well, the official Ogre map is a bit too long to fit, but I might be able to work something out. Quote:
This is true. D.

"Additionally, this map will allow players to try the features in Daniel Oney's article "Going Downtown: Smart Cities in the Last War" in Ogrezine."
I saw that and it made me go back & reread the article. i had only skimmed through it on previous readings. What a fantastic article - there is a TON of stuff crammed into those 3 pages. Enough to generate may scenarios. Its interesting Daniel mentioned RAND reports as a resources. I found a trove of those back in collage- on the most interesting topics. Including early attempts to make a computer-based modular wargame to manipulate variables & project possible outcomes between different opponents. The city map is a tremendous companion to it. At first i was concerned about the size, since the ranges are so short, but when one looks at the challenges this city map presents - close quarters are the least of your worries! This city is a nightmare- 5 bridges (4 major ones), a port, a ring road... The rules & map really bring the possibility of complex urban warfare to the Ogre world, while still keeping the excellent Ogre mechanics. I have an image lodged in my head of GEV-PC's full of Marines racing up that river to seize those bridges- intact! |

Possible, but there will be a lot of extra space. The second map would only need about 6 rows of hexes (or roughly 1/3 of the mat). Obviously, the two parts can be adjusted to make the distribution more equal, but again, there's plenty of extra room.
Now, this room can be used for the CRT, stats for the various units (a la Ogre Deluxe Edition 1987), and other info, but we still are talking paying for two mats, for a map that truly is only a little bigger than one. D.

Fewer than 10 more preorders needed . . .
We will review the project on Monday and then, possibly, make one last call for preorders. If all goes well, we'll send the file to print late next week. We're unlikely to order many copies beyond the 100 needed to fill preorders, so anyone who wants a guarantee at getting the playmat will want to preorder soon.

In that case, a separate 'system' of maps is probably best, if the ROI is there! [If not, there's always poster paper, 6E board thickness, etc...plenty of options still 'on the table', if you'll pardon the pun]
Congratulations! Also crap, as I was hoping to hold out until payday (end of next week). I'll see what I can come up with over the weekend. :D
