Re: November 29, 2018: An Ancient History Question For The Mass Mind
To save other people trouble: I've just looked through Dragon magazines 86-91 from the old CD-ROM collection, and I didn't find anything relevant. (86 has an "Origins 84 preview".)
Also nothing in the Newsboard of White Dwarf 54-60. Also nothing immediately obvious in Strategy & Tactics 96-101 (though I haven't looked through the whole magazine).

Was this Origins held in Dallas? If so, I went to it and might have the program somewhere. Recently moved and my too large collection of stuff is still largely in un-numbered boxes.

Could it be in Space Gamer issues, specifically 67-71?
I can't check them. |

Re: November 29, 2018: An Ancient History Question For The Mass Mind
I swear I saw a ballot for '84 way back in the day, but I cannot remember where. This would've been in a buddy's collection of gaming magazines, around 1997 or so. I want to say that it was an insert in an old copy of Dragon - not printed in the magazine itself, but a pack-in.

Let me have a look in my copies of Dragon Magazine from that year.

It doesn't appear so. In issue 69, Chris Frink mentions making his nominations for the 1983 Origins Awards, but I didn't find any list of nominees.

There are ads for Origins 84 in the Journal of the Traveller's Aid Society ##18-20, but no mention of nominees.
I have written to the special collections librarian at UNT, where Origins 84 was held, to see if they might have anything in their archive. Edit: They did not find anything in their collection or in the school newspaper. Last edited by thrash; 11-29-2018 at 12:28 PM. |
