Default Monsters with bonus vs Class

I think I know the answer but can someone just clarify:
A Level 1 'Tequila Mockingbird' has +5 verses Bards. Does this mean that to the Bard the monster is actually a Level 6?

No it does not. To a Bard, the monster is a Level 1 monster with a combat strength of 6. There are very few cards which alter the Level of the monster and they will all say they specifically change the monster's Level.

Okay...I'm confused. What is the difference between a monster with a level of 6 and a monster with a level of 1 and a combat strength of 6?

A Monster's Level is considered to be unchanging. Why does it matter? Because some cards can rely on a Monster's Level. Mommy, for instance, can only be played on a Monster that is Level 5 or below, or one that has had Baby played on it.

Bonuses are bonuses, not increases to Level, and are factors when calculating combat strength (Level + bonuses - penalties). So, Tequila Mockingbird has a combat strength of 6 when facing a Bard, but its Level remains 1.
