How on earth could you stat Kirk without including the Destiny advantage.

I would also give him luck, and some form of shared uberDestiny or Ridiculous Luck only when near Spock and McCoy.

Trained by a Master??? WTF???

Shouldn't Starship Captain be Military Rank 6? It was in 3e.

i wasn't going for mega-happy "CINEMATIC"!!

..but yeah over-the-top cinematic those would make sense.
Remember tho - this is Kirk BEFORE the 5 year mission is over.

See above. (BTW, it's warp space not hyperspace)

Yes I know about the scene at the start of ST V, but other then that when did he do much climbing, except on rock formations which somehow formed into steps.

Also, since no one else pointed it out, I don't think the man was an alcoholic. He didn't get drunk every evening, he was (presumably) sober while on duty, and he could go for several days without alcohol.

I'd also give him a rather high Brawling Skill instead of this Martial Arts setup. Star Trek Hand to Hand combat was markedly "unskilled", and largely inspired by Westerns. Kirk doesn't display the formalized/stylized knowledge of martial arts moves; he's rather a well-honed tavern brawler, iirc.

To reduce the skill list, I'd also consider Bang Skills. "Starship Captain" and "Tough Hero" would cover most of what he's doing, I guess.

The "Shirt gets torn" thing could also be a Perk, if it's good for a Reaction Bonus from time to time :) As in Galaxy Quest.

Maybe give him +1 ST. Or maybe not.

Of course, it's difficult to stay strictly realistic when statting up Kirk, or any Star Trek character for that matter. I mean, this the universe where you encounter godlike intelligences, energy-based lifeforms trying to communicate and Wesley Crusher. No offense, but that's a bit cinematic to start with :)

Although I think it was established more in the books than on screen (I can''t remember for sure), I believe that Kirk came up through a start in Engineering. He should have at least basic skills in Warp and Impulse Engines, imo.

I fully do agree with the 12 in IQ. Kirk is klever (remember how he got his Starfleet officer diploma and how quickly he can take a difficult strategic decision). 12 is bright, but still normal, and that perfectly corresponds to Kirk...

On the other hand, I always thought that Kirk was a bit stronger than 10. Perhaps something like 11. To my mind, McCoy has ST 10, and Kirk appears to be stronger than him.

I also do agree with what is written above: Kirk is not alcoholic, even if he likes drinking. McCoy is alcoholic, and his behavior is very different...

Finally, Kirk is not a martial artist. His unarmed combat skill is closest to brawling than to karate or judo.

I thought he came up through the Security ranks? I'm distantly remembering from the first Star Trek RPG...

Anyway, he should have more leadership, charisma, strategy, and tactics. I'ld go with a higher ST and a high brawling skill. IQ 11 is probably high enough, but mix in some type of leader/strategist talent.

That's a very good idea.
