What's the consensus on movement? There are several sources, saying anywhere from 48 to 78 tread units, but almost all say M3. 78 treads sounds really hard to stop ... like, impossible.

The Drones in the internal bays are also a bit of a question mark.
Good question. My gut instinct puts it around 51, +/- 3. Because of its armament plus needing space for a drone / infantry bay yet too, the Mk.IV is a good candidate for 'most similar chassis' in terms of size...it adds a secondary, but trades away 6 of its missiles.

51 would let it split the difference between Mk.IV and Mk.V when it comes to "treads per MP"...17, compared to the Mk.IV's 14 and the Mk.V's 20.

When it comes to its internal bays, I say go with 2 L-GEVs or 3 squads of INF. Those are both 1 AU-equivalent. I'd also say that they're well-protected enough to not appear as destructible targets on the record sheet; if they stay inside they're useless, and if they emerge to fight then they can be destroyed as usual.

48 tread units sounds right to me - 16 per MP, or six rows of 8 boxes on a card. 51 might be more "accurate," but it's a weird number that would require uneven rows of boxes.

I found one thread here on SJG that had this option as a tester:

2 Drone Bays (internal, not targetable)
1 Drone Hatch (D4) (may release one drone per turn only)

2 Missile Drones -- 4 VP each
6/5 1-shot + 1/0 point defense gun
D2, M2 (M3 after fired missile)
May reload in Ogre Drone Bay from the 9 internal missile supply

That would need rules for how to "dock" the empty Drones, reload the Missile Drone (added complexity and record keeping), as well as the fact that the Missile Drones seem to make it way more powerful.

Regarding tread counts, I'm a big fan of nice symmetrical boxes too.

I don't like the missile drone. As you should all know by now, I'm a fan of KISS*, and using standard units means less Stuff to remember.

* Not the band.

There are Assault Pack details from the Kickstarter for the Golem, but I don't know if I'm allowed to share them here (since they were in a KS update).

I'll let Drew weigh in on that.

Fair point. 48 worries me that it's a little too fragile for something that has (in fluff, granted in GURPS Ogre which is fuzzy semi-canon) slugged it out with a pack of Mk.IIIs and Mk.Vs, which is why I went higher. Also considered 54, which would give it 6 rows of 9, in a 5+4 configuration...but that worries me about it being too tough given that it's effectively a slower, +1-gunned Mk.IV with a cargo bay.

That's actually in line with what Israel does with foreign military equipment today. They tend to taylor things for urban and mountain combat, with much shorter supply lines. Something tough (lots of tread boxes), a little slower (M3), expected to be in supply (missiles), and carrying urban specialists (INF bay) all fit that.

GURPS Ogre isn't THAT fuzzy, and it's what we've got to work with for now. But we don't know how many cybertanks were involved on any side, or the size of the supporting conventional forces, or the tactical situations. Israel's tankers often perform far beyond expectations, and I assume their AIs have learned from the best. dwalend points out that Israel expects to fight with short supply lines, and I think 48 tread units is fine for a unit that can expect to be within an hour or two of a depot.

I'm ok with you sharing them, with the understanding that they are NOT official in any capacity. Rather, they are an experiment whose final results are still indeterminate. But let's get additional opinions on the concept.
