Hit Locations and wounding modifiers
I was looking at the Combat Maneuvers Cheat Sheet and I had a thought. Neck Vascular has one of the LOWEST wounding modifiers. How is that a thing? Shouldn't it be a pretty high wounding modifier? Or would you die from exsanguination (bleeding out) rather than the damage itself?

Re: Hit Locations and wounding modifiers
You also have to take into account how much damage can be dealt to those locations.
Vitals, while a nice multiplier, can only be hit by thrust attack (normally). Whike a Neck-Artery can be hit by swing attacks. A ST:11 man with a normal thrusting broadsword could thrust for 1d+1 imp or swing for 1d+2 cut. Assuming a d6 roll of 4 and no DR, that would be 15 injury from a vitals hit or 15 from a neck-artery. Ok Vitials are still better for several reason (mostly easier to hit). BUT Vitals are almost always armoured. both in a low and high-tech combat-situation. Neck is most often unarmoured or lightly armoured. |
