Default Empathy and Alternate Abilities

Would it be valid to take similar abilities that focus on different groups as alternate abilities? For example, Animal Empathy, Plant Empathy, and Spirit Empathy (Faeries)?

With the note that it takes a ready maneuver to switch between them ... Yes, it is valid.

I would certainly allow it. The character would more "Tune in" rather than "be in tune with", so it's thematically quite distinct, but certainly rules legal.

Having to switch abilities and hope that an important trigger doesn't occur while the appropriate ability is 'off' is nuisance enough. I'd say OK if I were the GM.
