Re: Buffing ST
You could make 'Hero Points' be cap'd by your ST that way each ST gives two hit points in a way.

Re: Buffing ST
It might be nice to have a talent that made you less likely to suffer DX penalties or knockdowns when damaged.

Re: Buffing ST
Toughness makes it less likely for a figure to suffer DX or falling penalties because it reduces the amount of damage from each blow, which is not the same as something that raises the wound reaction threshold but doesn't reduce damage.
Tying the benefit to a talent that has high ST as a prerequisite has the benefit of not needing any formula or charts. Another good idea, David! Maybe it's a third level of Toughness--no extra damage reduction, but raises the the bar for -2DX and falling by 1 point. ST 16 for a prerequisite would follow the talent's progression. |

Re: Buffing ST
Toughness seems to be about rolling with the blow. I'm thinking of it as more like the line about "when you've been punched and it seems like three guys are coming after you, hit the one in the middle".
There could be a basic level that's free for heroes but costs 1 for wizards and most non-combat NPCs don't have it. And a second level that means you just don't stop until you're dead. |

Re: Buffing ST
A good idea. I have thought something like this as well. The only concern is you can make a major tank in 5 level ups.

It might be more useful to one of Henry's non-wizard designs, something with no use for ST but hit points so low it's in constant danger of fatally stubbing its toe. Even then it doesn't seem unbalancing. |
