Re: [FD] Sylph Preservation
I encountered the following situation recently:
1. In his turn, Player A, a Level 6 Cleric is fighting the Plutonium Dragon, he can't beat the Monster alone. 2. Player B agree to join the combat as Helper in exchange of all Treasures. 3. They win, and lucky for Player A, one of the Treasure is Divine Intervention. 4. Player B played the Divine Intervention immediately, Player A is now Level 9 (6 + 2 from Plutonium Dragon + 1 from Divine Intervention). 5. Player A discarded Divine Intervention to the discard pile, because it is his turn. 6. Player A played Sylph Preservation to take back Divine Intervention to his hand, because he can "...Discard this card to take any card that you just played or discarded..."! 7. He played Divine Intervention again and he win. Is this the official intention of the Sylph Preservation card? Is this a legal play? Thanks. (For those who are interested, I'm the poor Player B...)

Re: [FD] Sylph Preservation
Divine Intervention is a Door, so you did something wrong from the outset. That said, if Player B hands a card to Player A to place in the discards, that doesn't mean that Player A is the one who discarded it, so yeah, he was cheating.

Good to know that this is not a legal play and learn that the one who put cards in discard pile =/= the one who discard the cards. Thanks.

Re: [FD] Sylph Preservation
If you're using sleeves, it's generally best to use two different colors for Doors and Treasures to avoid this problem.

Although the front of the Fantasy cards are also different: Treasures are more yellow.

Not in all versions -- some of the translations never made the switch, or use a different design entirely.

Re: [FD] Sylph Preservation
It's nice to get confirmation that a player can't use that card to take back any card that was played on him within his combat, as he would be discarding them all at the end.
If Divine Intervention were a Treasure card and had legally been drawn as part of the Treasure draw, then Player A would be the one that played it, even though Player B gets all the Treasure (Player A still draws it and draws it face-up). Then Player A could play Sylph Preservation legally, right? |
