Default Discarding Door Cards

When reading about turn phases, charity is when you have too many cards in your hand and have to get rid of cards. Can you discard cards from your hand when you only have a few cards to stop a cleric whose turn is after yours from getting a monster?

Default Re: Discarding Door Cards

If you have excess cards in your hand at the end of your turn, then you must get your hand size down to 5. You can do that by playing cards to the table, playing curses on players, selling Items to buy a level, or other legal plays. If you have no legal way to get rid of all your excess cards, then you're required to give them away to the lowest level player. If you are the lowest level player, then you can discard the excess.

If you have no excess cards, then you don't get to worry about the Charity phase and you don't get to give away/discard hand cards. In other words, you can't discard cards from your hand to bury something in the discards just because you want to. If you want to bury something in the door cards, and charity doesn't offer you a legal way to do it, you could always discard your current Class or Race because that is legal for you to do at any time during the game.
