While we wait for the Kickstarter to wind up lets match wits....

Devise and post your best spend of the $99.00 reward and show what you would buy to best complement/get the most out of the 12 PDFs with the $125.00 total.

Two Categories:

1) You already own the Basic Set.

2) You have no GURPS material at all.

Let's allow for going over limit but only by the smallest amount possible for the buy so highest priced items come out of the budget first.

Who wants to take a swing at this?

I find this an OUTSTANDING suggestion.

Such things posted or reposted in the various RPG groups that aren't here would be even better.

"Gee, with my $125 credit, I'd run my Fifth Element game with these books!"

"Hrm. I really want to do Gone in 60 Seconds, so . . . "

I'm an old curmudgeon with a small circle of friends (mostly people who were at my previous major job from ten years ago... before that, I could count my Facebook friends on two hands).

But I put an appeal on my page, to see if anyone was interested. I pointed out that it's great to read, even as non-RPG, because the work is so great.

Then pointed out that, in addition to GURPS, SJ Games makes dice games, board games, and card games (not covered by the KS campaign). Because while I love GURPS (it's my favorite RP system), I know that GURPS is a tiny fraction of SJ Games' cash flow. A healthy SJ Games can afford to keep subsidizing GURPS, after all! :)

So possibly pointless question until we can see the PDFs - is HTBAGGM:RPM equally useful to a buy of MH1 and Thaumatology?
From the author's point of view: Yes. It answers some questions that might come up in an MH game as easily as it would using it for a non-MH game.

I think you also really need MH4 Sidekicks for the quick and dirty charm rules to really get the most out of RPM

MH1 is great and all (and I know 1 DM who prefers it over TRPM) but the lack of tge Quick and Dirty charm rules is huge

I have to ask after reading some comments on the Kickstarter page; is there always this much confusion about which Steve Jackson is which when you guys do a kickstarter?

I suspect this retweet of the official SJG account at the start of the campaign might have something to with the comments

Yeah, that... and the fact that they look almost exactly alike in the dark. (:

I see two more $49 pledges have been entered today! I feel pretty good about the chances of reaching 2000 backers... dare I hope that it can also get to 100 New to GURPS?

This happens weekly. It’s not at all unusual.

Thanks to the "how to spend it" sub-thread, I find myself wondering -- is it possible to back a KS at multiple levels? Imagine a hypothetical if not fantastical GURPS newbie, committed and to whom money is no object. Obviously they'll want the $49 level to get started. But they'd also love to have the $99 level to get more for their money on the rapid expansion of their new GURPS library.

So, is it even theoretically possible to back a KS at (in this case) the $49+99=$148 level, and get the rewards of both levels? The KSes I've seen before were strictly nested, with each level a superset of the preceding levels, so the question didn't arise. Certainly you could just back for $148 -- anybody would be happy to get extra money. But I suspect the code on the websites aren't set up to manage the same account backing one KS multiple times in different ways. Just register two KS accounts?

Pretty sure Kickstarter doesn't work that way. You can pledge at one and only one level.
