Which Items can't be carried or equipped?
The rules say anyone can carry any item. Does this include all the “Usable once only” items? Some of these items would be weird to see carried, and seem like the best strategy would be to conceal them in your hand until played. But, since they are all items, which all can be carried, it came up because people were trying to keep all their cards during charity in their turn, and placing some of these odd items in your carried status would allow reducing the number of cards in you hand.
Cards we questioned if you can carry/equip, or must keep in your hand until use: - Potions – most say when to use, but they are all items. - Magic Lamp - Wishing Ring (can you wear it?) - Instant Wall - Nasty-Tasting Sports Drink - Doppleganger - Pretty Balloons - Magic Missile - Wand of Dowsing - Loaded Die I could see this adding an interesting mechanic to the game in that yes, you don't have to discard those, but then players know some of the cards you have available to you and could steel those, or give you more cards to discard for curses etc... Maybe I just found the answer. Under “One-Shot” Treasures, it says you can play these from your hand or from the table. So this appears to confirm that these can be placed on the table to carry them. Any and all of them? |

Any and all ITEMS (!) can be carried. Item is a card with Gold Piece cost value or "No value" text on it.

Re: Which Items can't be carried or equipped?
Bellum is correct. If it's an Item, you can carry it (i.e., have it in play), even if you can't use it, or won't be using it right then. The only restriction is with respect to Big Items, of which you can only have one in play.
One of the biggest advantages to the hand is that very few cards affect it, while many others affect the cards one would have in play. That's why one's hand size is limited, so that you can't build up a massive stockpile of cards that are unlikely to be taken from you. That you can have one-shot Items in play allows you to keep them rather than having to give them away as Charity or discard them, but puts them at risk for effects that could take them away. Re: Which Items can't be carried or equipped?
Thanks, as we played more that is what we were doing, and that adds a really neat mechanic to the game.
Thanks again for the verification. |
