Default Help finding something in GURPS Thaumatology

Sorry to ask but I cant find something in Thaumatology.
Anyone have the page number for the alternate Rituals for energy costs?
Somewhere in this book (I think) is the trade off for reducing energy by applying a penalty to skill rather than the standard reduction.
However I cant find it. Not the first time I have looked and struggled for this, should be in the index.

Are you sure that isn't in Magic? I don't have Magic in pdf, and my physical copy is... somewhere. The ToC in the preview makes me thing Magic p. 9 is promising.

It might be there but not on that page or section, that is about changing the ritual components.

Magic p. 9 has skill modifiers for varying ritual words and gestures (including very clear and deliberate ones). These are elaborated on Thaumatology p. 36. Thaumatology p. 39 further has rules for Trading Energy for Speed and Skill (but not the other way around).

I seem to remember the same thing that you do, Refplace, but I am not sure whether it was a houserule of mine or somebody else. Generally speaking if you don't use automatic energy reductions for high skill taking -4 per energy saved seems fair.

I am positive I read it somewhere (Hopefully not just Third Edition) and its always a chore to find it again.

Going the other way is on p.39 (Trading Energy for Enhancements and the box Trading Energy for Skill). I don't see anything specific for going the other way, but it's not difficult to extrapolate from those to a scheme to trade Skill or Limitations for energy.

I haven't read Thaumatology cover to cover, but I'm quite sure the rule isn't there, if it isn't where Blind Mapmaker has suggested (yeah, I've also been looking for a rule like that). The energy cost reduction has been suggested on the forums for sure, and it's easy to confuse with the rule from Imbuements.

Maybe it was a Third or Second edition thing then.

I'm pretty sure you are thinking of the "Time, Energy, and Costs tradeoff from Magic 3e page 109 under Restrictions on Magic (it removes free time and energy reductions). I'm also pretty sure that it didn't make it into 4e.
