Insubstantiality is really formidable even when you can damage it. It doesn't have to round around you to attack your rear hex, it can step right through you. If the spirit is smart it's going to make blind swings at you from the ground under your feet and you'll going to have to injure it with wait maneuver attacks to the hands or arms. If a Spirit decides it doesn't want to fight you anymore it goes up or down and you have no chance of catching it. Maybe it will follow the group making no sound as it floats through the air and attack them in their sleep.
