Re: bending stereotypes
I once read a news item in the British Medical Journal about a man who had mistaken a tube of superglue for his son's eye ointment. This was not catastrophic as you might think, because cyanoacrylate breaks down in a few days in the presence of water (don't mend crockery with superglue).

Because it's hard to cuff a man who has one arm attached to his head?

And because one guy caught it on the nose... he was the mouth-breather type anyway, but... the potential for short term sealing of airways can result in significant self-harm while panicked in attempting to create an effective airway. Also note, not all superglues are equally quick. And not all are CA. Also note: Cyanoacrylate survives water just fine. I've friends who used it in fish tanks. I've used it on leather drinking vessels. Skin and mucus membranes, however, slough routinely. Pin your hand to your chest, and the skin involved will be ready to slough off in a day or 3... and your hand will come free within 2-4 days. Much like how it falls off fingers within the week. CA superglue (in high purity) is a surgical glue, originally designed to close battlefield wounds for transport to BnAS or Field Hospitals |
