Default Trained by a Master and Weapon Master

Is there a reason that these advantages should cost full price if taken in concert when there seems to be a degree of overlap?

One who is a true master!

But more to the topic, there is not discount because both of them apply to different things, TbaM is for unarmed skills and WM is for armed skills. Then you have gunslinger for firearms and heroic archer for muscle bounded ranged weapons.

I tried a little while ago to cobble all of those together and make an advantage that does all of them, and then you add limitations to go back to the originals. This would have let you make any "Master of" type of PC.

Trained by a Master applies to Hand to Hand, and Weapon skills and gives access to the cinematic fighting skills and maneuvers (as well as the esoteric skills) for both. Weapon Master applies only to Weapon skills and gives access to only specific esoteric skills and appropriate cinematic skills/maneuvers.

Weapon master also provides a reduced default to all weapons and a damage bonus based on skill similar to Karate.

But at approx. half of Weapon Master would also be in Trained by a Master, and Vise Versa.

The main character with the over lap Who has Trained By a Master for unarmed style and Weapon Master (Small group: Style's Weapons)

The only overlap is Trained by the master halving of rapid strike for all weapons not just the style weapons, and the Both given access to : Blind Fighting, Flying Leep, Kiai, Mental Strength, Power Blow, Pressure Points, Trowing Art, Zen Archery, Techniques: Dual Weapon Strike, Whirlwind Strike

TBAM only: Body Control, Breaking Blow, Immovable stance, Invisibility art, Light Walk, Preasure Secrets, Push

Weapon Master only, Improved Weapon Damage, and improved Weapon defaults (inside group)

Now noting a being prerequisite is worth Zero points

I think that it would be reasonable for a character with Trained By a Master to take Weapon Master at a 10 point discount when applied to melee weapon masters because there is significant overlap between the two (the only advantage of significance that Weapon Master possesses over Trained By a Master when it comes to melee weapons is the increased damage for melee weapons). Alternatively, you could have a second level of Trained By a Master that costs 60 points and applies the Weapon Master traits to all Melee Weapon Skills known by the styles of the character (not thrown or ranged weapons known to the styles).

In my games the cheaper one gets a 10% discount for the overlap.
