Default Re: Updated / New Character Sheets

Announcing Phoenix 1.27 (requires GCA 4.0.371 or later).

Phoenix is always available from: http://www.motoslave.net/thom/gca/phoenix/

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Phoenix 1.27 highlights:
  • Fixed a few bugs, one fatal, and added more work-arounds for print environment stupidity.
  • Major architectural changes which should yield significant performance gains over previous versions. [1]
  • Added, optional, support for the Unkillable advantage to the Hit Point checkboxes and effects chart (default: enabled).
  • Added Power Item checkboxes. [2]
  • Rewrote the Threshold-Limited Magic/Unlimited Mana ancillary block.
  • Changes to much of the defenses block, including: adding footnotes and bonus DR/DB notes to all configurations and making the expanded DR table managing its columns more intelligently.
  • Changed the expanded details option, for advantages, to work only for non-attack traits. The only datum lost with this change, the skill used for attack traits, has been made availible via the attack tables.
  • Added the ability to print the skill used for each mode of an attck in the attack tables (default: disabled).
  • Added uses checkboxes to the equipment and load-out blocks, and options to control their behavior. [3]
  • Rewrote all of the checkboxes in the sheet, in particular the font sizes used for checkbox values are now auto-calculated per checkbox.
  • Changes to Quick View mode:
    • Changed/fixed edit functionality for paired languages. Each language in a pair will now have its own editing hotspot.
    • Changed the primary statistics block to always show the Tech Level usernotes edit field.
    • Disabled edit functionality for description and notes. Plans are to re-enable this functionality after a future program update adds improved support.
  • Changes to sheet options:
    • Reworked the font & styling options a bit.
    • Rewrote the footnotes options. The major changes being: the entire footnote system can now be enabled/disabled with one yes/no option, and bonuses and conditionals are now independently controllable for every block that supports them.
See the full release notes for more information.

[1] Phoenix should execute much faster. I hesitate to specify actual numbers because different characters and option settings vary the gains, however, run-times on my workstation have averaged two to three times faster than Phoenix 1.26 with similar settings on the same character. Even on the low end, you should notice the difference.

[2] This feature will require datafile support. Eric would know more, I'm just the code monkey. :)

[3] This feature will require datafile support. Again, Eric would know more, however, I can say that if you want to start using/testing this now all you have to do is add a uses(NumberOfUses) tag, whose value is the number of uses, to any piece of equipment; e.g. uses(32). Don't forget there are options to control this for both the equipment and load-out blocks.

Announcing Phoenix 1.28 (requires GCA 4.0.371 or later).

Phoenix is always available from: http://www.motoslave.net/thom/gca/phoenix/

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Phoenix 1.28 highlights:
  • Added, optional, support for wound level modifing advantages and disadvantages (currently: Supernatural Durability, Unkillable, Fragile (Brittle), and Fragile (Unnatural)) to the Hit Point record blank, checkboxes, and effects chart (default: enabled).
  • Added, optional, support for printing items' per unit cost/weight and, for containers, the contents' cost/weight in the Equipment and Load-Out blocks (default: disabled). Note: These values do not include global modifiers (owner::cost & owner::weight).
  • Added support for weight measurement scaling below the previous pound (lb) and kilogram (kg) thresholds to various blocks. The sub-pound units now supported are the ounce (oz), dram (dr), and grain (gr). The sub-kilogram unit now supported is the gram (g).
  • Changed the Hit Points and Fatigue Points wound effects charts so that they may be printed alone or with the record blanks or checkboxes. Previously, they could only be printed with the checkboxes.
  • Changed the Equipment and Load-Out blocks so that when parent items are reprinted, upon flowing to a new column while printing their children, only the basic information is printed, rather than printing all of the parent data again.
  • Quashed a few more edge-cases where the print engine could go nuts.
  • Various minor fixes and adjustments.

Announcing Phoenix 1.29 (requires GCA 4.0.371 or later).

Phoenix is always available from: http://www.motoslave.net/thom/gca/phoenix/

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Phoenix 1.29 highlights:
  • Fixed a fatal internationalization (i18n) bug that was introduced in the last release (1.28).
  • Changed the styling option to force character description/notes to print in plain text to also affect the campaign log notes.
  • Changed the option to print items' per unit cost/weight in the Equipment and Load-Out blocks to only print them when either the item quantity is greater than one or when the item is a container with children--this eliminates some unnecessary redundancy.
My apologies for the timing of this release, so soon after the last, but I needed to fix the fatal bug I introduced in 1.28. On the upside, you'll also get a couple of tweaks besides the bug fix.

Announcing Phoenix 1.30 (requires GCA 4.0.371 or later).

Phoenix is always available from: http://www.motoslave.net/thom/gca/phoenix/

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Phoenix 1.30 highlights:
  • Added, optional, support for increasing the printing width of the various descriptive fields of items in the Equipment and Load-Out blocks (default: enabled). When enabled, the left edge of the descriptive fields print area will remain the same, the right edge, however, will now extend out to the block's right edge.
  • Split the wound/usage recording components out of the main Statistics block and into their own new block, the Wound/Usage Recording block, which has been added to the positioning system; its default position is the same as it's always been. The options have also been split, and can now be found under the Wound/Usage Recording Options section.
  • Changed the function that figures relative skill levels, used in various blocks, so that it no long adds the level modifier to the relative skill level if it's equal to zero (e.g. you'll now see "Knife" instead of "Knife+0").
  • Various minor fixes and adjustments.

Announcing Phoenix 1.31 (requires GCA 4.0.371 or later).

Phoenix is always available from: http://www.motoslave.net/thom/gca/phoenix/

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Phoenix 1.31 highlights:
  • Fixed bugs that would make a few types of traits fail to print as children under certain circumstances.
  • Added, optional, support for folding the traits of all Phoenix sub-type blocks into their appropriate base-type block (i.e. cultural familiarities and languages -> Advantages block, techniques and ritual magic paths -> Skills block).

  • Added the ability to print non-combat details for advantages and disadvantages.
  • Changed a few column labels in the the notable attacks table, specifically: "Level" to "Skill" and "Notes" to "GM Notes".

Announcing GM Control Sheet 2.09 (requires GCA 4.0.320 or later).

GM Control Sheet is always available from: http://www.motoslave.net/thom/gca/gmcs/

------------------------------------------------------------------------

GM Control Sheet 2.09 highlights:
  • Renamed the Stat Copies options to Cloning options and updated them:
    • Increased the number of characters that may be cloned from eight to ten. The maximum number of clones per character remains sixteen.
    • Added the ability to clone the wound and usage record checkboxes.
My apologies for the next day update here. It was pointed out to me this morning--rather more graciously than I deserved--that it would be nice to be able to clone the new checkboxes as well as stat block entries. How I failed to make that connection before pushing out the last update escapes me. Anyway, enjoy! :)

Announcing GM Control Sheet 2.10 (requires GCA 4.0.320 or later).

GM Control Sheet is always available from: http://www.motoslave.net/thom/gca/gmcs/

------------------------------------------------------------------------

GM Control Sheet 2.10 highlights:
  • Tweaks to the wound and usage record checkboxes to reduce clutter:
    • If enabled, basic breakpoint charts will now print once at the top of the first page of the checkbox section, and per-checkbox charts will only print when they differ from the basic charts.
    • FP and SP checkbox areas have been made more compact.

Announcing a new export sheet: Bookish Layout (requires GCA 4.0.371 or later).

Bookish Layout is an export sheet that tries to export character data in a format that is relatively close to the official GURPSŪ format guidelines (note the emphasis on relatively). It has a few sheet options that can be set to alter its output; most notably an option to select the output medium (plain text, vBulletin forums, phpBB forums) which will add markup in the latter two cases.

Bookish Layout is always available from: http://www.motoslave.net/thom/gca/export/

PS: The initial release version is 0.90 as I intend to add at least one more selection to the output medium option and I'm still investigating tweaks that I can make to nudge the output closer to the format guidelines--any feedback on that would be appreciated.
