Default Dropped items question

Just bought MQ and played it for the first time last night! We're loving it! After playing through though we have some questions...with the rate you receive DxM cards we often ended up with 8 or even 10+ cards in our hard at the end of a turn....are DxM cards "droppable" since they aren't considered items? Also we were having difficulty understanding how discarding works. If we could just discard those are the end of the turn that would cut back on trying to drop them or give them as charity.

If you could simply discard them, that would certainly make Charity pointless. So, no, you can't simply discard them. However, your hand limit ONLY comes into play at the end of your turn, so if you have a bunch of cards in your hand when it's not the end of your turn, it really doesn't matter.

I do understand that one can end up with a fair amount of DxM cards, but make sure you're not giving out more than necessary. You get one on the start of your turn, you get one for exploring, and of course, you always get one when your color gets rolled on the Monster die, but not when someone chooses your color for a Monster's base.
