Default Plaistow Pizza Box Arena

I've spent a lot of time on our 3x Car Wars set up, but it isn't exactly practical if I want to bring it "on the road". My kids have been wanting to play more, so I decided I would put something together that would be convenient, and I could take with us if we go away. (As you know "the family that slays together stays together".)

I was able to score a few of the original Car Wars miniatures, so then I got the idea to magnetize the whole thing (counters and all) to make transport easier. One thing led to another, and this is what I ended up with.

Known locally for it's competitive Friday Night Amateur Nights - The Plaistow Pizza Box Arena!

I still want to work on some interior terrain, but after magnetizing some of the stuff I had I think it will work well in a pinch.

Fantastic set-up. Your miniatures are some of the best ever paint jobs for the original Autoduel! Miniatures from Grenadier I have seen. Excellent work.

Will you be able to post information on the arena (like you would find in the 1988 Car Wars Arena Book) this year?

An article discussing how you built your arena and mounted your miniatures would be extremely helpful for Car Wars players.

On the subject of pizza, ADQ 3/4 has the short story, "Checkers Pizza: We Deliver," and ADQ 9/2 has the "Gunsmoke Pizza Delivery Car" that features a heated small mini-fridge.

.
Thanks very much!

I could probably whip something up on what I did to make it. Originally I had planned to use foam to do the walls, but I had to switch gears to plasticard when I better understood the limitations of a pizza box. :) I'll give it some thought.

Coolest Car Wars setup I've ever seen I think. Very artistic.

Do another one...... Do another one...!!!

What's the yellow line around the arena?

Superb! Excellent concept and painting.

But now I want to know how you pronounce 'Plaistow'. :)

It beats the times I played in the Handful Of Counters Tossed Onto Blank Mapsheet Memorial Autoduel Arena.

To quote my hero, Wyle E. Coyote:

"Genius. Pure unadulterated genius."

Seriously that is like the coolest thing I've seen for ANY game in a long while. I am SO stealing that idea. Hey, imitation IS the most sincere form of flattery. ;^) You definitely need to post an article on how you made it.

If you need more obstacles, you could add those three-legged circular pizza spacers...
