Basic Soldier Template?

The basic training skills

And then the specialisations?

It's for a TL7 and 8.

I have found a list about 20 skills but imagine only about half of them are really practised a lot.

For infantry try the Assaulter style in Tactical Shooting.

I came up with a few "just out of basic training" templates some time back. Hope they help.

There is one... in Space. Its not for TL8, but its trivial to adapt.

You could also use the reich-5 trooper from infinite worlds.

Though some of the other links will work just as well. A good deal depends on what you want it for.

He wanted basic training skills, didn't he? I'm not sure that basic gives Assaulter Style familiarity. Infantry AIT does, of course.

My thoughts are on this thread. My comments with skill list are on the page linked, but the entire discussion of Soldier skill is worth reading.

Soldier is meant to reduce skill glut. If it sounds like something "everyone" should know, and it's not obvious like Guns or Hiking, then it might be Soldier.

Experienced soldiers, or those with a good deal of pre-existing talent, might have these, but I wouldn't expect most new soldiers to have these beyond Dabbler (and most of them would probably just be going off defaults, albeit with sizable equipment bonuses in some cases).

This should probably be part of the basic template, not something learned later. At least, I know swimming is part of Basic for the USMC, and would expect it to be for the Army as well (Navy's a no-brainer, while Air Force might be able to get away without it, although it would still be a good idea). And no, I don't think they go off of default for that - Marines at least learn a bit of underwater combat (breaking holds to avoid getting drowned, mostly).

I kind of doubt it - the jumping performance one gets out of simply having a decent Basic Move is likely enough there. Not like there's a lot of call for long jumps in combat, and in cases where a high-jump would be called for you'd just get an assist from a squadmate.
